Abbeville Man Frank B Flynn Dies at Pablo Beach
Frank B Flynn of Abbeville died while bathing in the surf at Pablo Beach near Jacksonville on Saturday. A telegram offered no details beyond a suspected heart issue or apoplexy. Flynn, a native of Australia, had recently moved from Georgia and planned a paint product venture near Abbeville.

Petty Officer Held for Murder in Colonial Beach
Colonial Beach Virginia October 1 Mrs Roger E Eastlake wife of a navy petty officer at the Dahlgren proving ground was found murdered at her home by a neighbor. Her head was battered with a hatchet throat slashed and a pistol shot fired. A hatchet razor and pistol blood stained were found under a porch of a vacant house nearby. The coroner's jury ordered Eastlake and Mrs S M Knox held. Eastlake had moved from Philadelphia fifteen months earlier and rented a nearby cottage.

Britt Home Burns in McCormick Fire
News from Abbeville reports the destruction yesterday by fire of the home of James E. Britt in McCormick. Britt is president of the Bank of McCormick and brother-in-law of Major R. B. Cheatham of Abbeville. The colonial style residence was of exceptional beauty and may cost $40,000 to $50,000 to replace.

Cotton Market Sees Low Yields and Higher Futures
The September crop report shows 42.2 percent of normal yield with a per acre of 118 pounds versus a ten year 280.8. Futures rose to 21.80 then slipped to 20.70 after the report, ending at 20.85. Ginned bales total 2,907,905 by Sept 25, up from 2,249,606 last year. Spot cotton trades 20.75 to 21 cents amid limited offerings.
