Presbyterians Seek Closer Ties Across Denominations
In Charleston West Virginia on May 23 the General Assembly discussed overtures from Albemarle and Winchester Montpelier presbyteries, urging a biennial assembly and a bureau of agency and supply. The committee rejected changes to membership and a shift of powers over expenditure. Comity between the South Presbyterian and Reformed Presbyterian churches was urged, along with cooperation among mission agencies and a permanent policy framework. Treaties to ease cross church movement and strengthen weak churches were proposed, while oversight of local comity cases was urged. Meanwhile the Southern Presbyterian General Assembly planned a July meeting in Treat, North Carolina and Farmers Union head Charles Barrett issued a statement on farmer representation.

Washington reports April cotton exports nearly doubled from a year earlier. Death of Mrs Rebecca Ware in Level Land community
Mrs Rebecca Ware died at her home in Level Land on Tuesday May 23rd and was buried this afternoon at Shiloh burying ground. Funeral services were by Rev D W Duckworth at Shiloh church at 2 o'clock with interment to follow. She was in her 76th year and survived by sons Charley Robert Clyde James and daughter Mrs Jim Evans. Her husband and daughter Mrs Campbell preceded her in death. A Christian woman, widely known and respected in the community.
