Red Cross Abbeville Chapter Hears Home Service Report
The Abbeville Chapter American Red Cross executive committee met at 6 pm in the Home Service office with Joe Morse presiding. Mrs Hannah H Coleman reported, five recommendations were passed, and new chairs were appointed for Publicity, Education, Development, and Nursing. The chapter approved funding support for canteen committees and discussed office furnishing and recognition for Miss Fuller and Civic Club.

Soldier Horace Bowie returns home from service
Horace H. Bowie of Durant Mississippi traversed Abbeville with a troop train of the 114th Engineers en route to Mississippi for muster out. He served in France since last September and fought from October 1 until the armistice. He spent a layover with kinsman Wm P Greene and plans to resume his work with the Atos Central Railway.

Centenary Supper Marks Methodist Mission Drive
The Methodists opened their centenary mission campaign with a speech by Hon. C. C. Featherstone of Greenwood, then hosted a supper for about one hundred guests at Parker and Reese's hall. Mrs. W. F. Nickles led the event with two helpers, and the crowd pledged support for future missions. The white and red tables featured centenary slogan cards, and a cream chicken menu with eggs, salad, sandwiches, tea, and cake was served by several young women.

Danish Violinist Skovgaard Set For Abbeville Concert
Skovgaard the Danish violinist arrives in Abbeville with his own pianist and a Metropolitan Opera singer for a Monday concert at the Opera House. He will perform a classical program with songs and folklore selections. New Baby Boy Aboard As Kay Family Welcomes Son
Mr and Mrs R Glenn Kay celebrate the arrival of a baby boy born Wednesday in Douglass Fair. Soldiers on a troop train through Abbeville last Sunday were greeted by the canteen crew as Charlie Chaplin jokes surfaced. A young man from Due West quipped he would walk home if the train left him. David Kennedy son of Selden Kennedy proved the Sabbath question by answering correctly what day today is. He serves overseas and vows to sing psalms and keep Sabbath for life.

Colored boy sympathy for the Bentons tale of tragedy

Popular Citizen Dead at Hot Springs
Mr. W. P. Lowry died at Hot Springs on April 23 after seeking relief from the heat waters. He spent over thirty years in town as a merchant and engaged in a mining venture. He leaves a sister, Mrs Maggie Lowry, and the family burial site is Selma, Alabama, where his father, mother, and siblings are buried. Services were conducted by Rev. Paul Pressly in Louisville, Ga.
