County contracts signers will meet May 23 to elect delegates, with district conventions May 23 and 28 at Bennettsville Clemson College Spartanburg Aiken Darlington Marion Furaria Orangeburg Sumter Rock Hill. Gaffney May 9 Charles EB Smith prominent merchant and farmer of the Goucher section Cherokee county shot himself in the heart at home illness said to be cause. Memorial Day Exercises in Opera House for Confederates
Memorial Day exercises were held in the Opera House for Confederate Veterans gathered on stage. A list of veterans and accompanying ladies attended, followed by a program with prayer, music by the Carolina Syncopators, recitation, talks to veterans, and songs.
