Mill Village to Have Modern Conveniences
At Abbeville Cotton Mills the board declared a regular 3 percent semi annual dividend payable July 1 and an extra 3 percent May 1. Five thousand dollars were set aside to build a waterworks and sewer system for the village with every house connected. Two thousand dollars will fund a school building and assembly hall and twelve hundred dollars for educational use. A trained teacher will be hired with supplemental funds and a night school and welfare work will be run by a man and wife teachers in the old superintendent’s house. The mill plans also to aid local youths pursuing textile education and to integrate housing and education for mill workers.
