Acres in melons rise across nine states in 1922
Washington May 7 The United States department of agriculture reports early producing states planted 161000 watermelon acres this year, up 47 percent from 109800 harvested in 1921. Georgia reaches 57300 acres up 52 percent, Texas 37400 up 29 percent, Florida 85100 up 89 percent with increases also in South Carolina, Alabama, New Mexico, Arizona and California.
