Body of Lester Waters Found at Millwood Saturday
The body of William Lester Waters, ferryman at Saye, who died in the Harper’s Ferry tragedy, was found on an island at Millwood near Calhoun Falls by nine men fishing. Funeral held in Lownsleville Presbyterian Cemetery. Eight of ten drowned victims recovered so far. Waters served in World War II.

Washington May 1 The soldier relief bill cleared by a majority of the house ways and means committee will be debated tonight and likely passed Monday. It offers five payment options for adjusted compensation and funds via surtaxes on incomes and business activities. A parallel measure, the water power bill, would create a federal power commission to regulate development of federal water power with permits, licenses, and preferences for states and municipalities.
