March 24 report describes heavy fighting on the Allied front in France with the British and French defenders maintaining a strong position at a new front as German divisions suffer appalling losses. Mr. E. H. Longshore and a group including Jax H. Sherard William Hughes Pratt Clinksesles Marshall Clinksesles and Tom Culbreath left Saturday for Detroit. They travel with a stray joining in Greenwood as they drive to bring home several cars blocked by embargoes on freight shipments.

He fell ill after drill and was sent home for burial by Lanier Literary Societies with a court coffin closure. Interment at Flatrock cemetery near Antreville. decorations were yellow white and green.
Secretary Daniels would say only that he has received no word from Admiral Knight confirming a Tokyo dispatch alleging Knight bought all shipping on the Russian Pacific coast. The piece claims 650000 tons involved and notes Knight might act without department approval, though unlikely.
Rothe March 22 residents cheered for President Wilson at the opening of a tuberculosis sanatorium for war-wounded veterans. Thomile N. Pago American Ambassador to ally attended as funds for the building were raised by public subscription aided by the American Red Cross. A bust of President Wilson stands in the center of the institution named for him.
Dr and Mrs W D Simpson and their son Henry departed yesterday for New Orleans to spend a month. Dr Simpson will attend a tropical diseases course at Tulane University during the stay.
Sheriff Burts and Deputy J B Jones raided San Padgett's Monterey place last Thursday finding four gallons of blockade whiskey stored in the stuckeKouse. The whiskey was reported purchased in Georgia the previous Monday.

Abbeville High School defeated Utopia Friday afternoon 10 to 4 in a game notable for Abbeville’s strong fielding and solid hitting. Klac a war and Utopis shared four hits while Abbeville totaled ten, with Swetenburg and Cab contributing in the lineup.

German gains near Chauny and Salient positions pressured Allied lines while British troops held key sectors and prepared to resupply under fire. The plan aimed to stretch German strength and wear them down as the main battle continued toward Paris.
