The group debated a plan to organize teachers with a paid full time secretary and incorporation, raising dues to $2, and expanding women’s dues to parity with men.

Treasury reports theft of bonds in Washington
Between 170000 and 200000 in Liberty bonds are missing from the treasury Liberty bonds branch. Secret service chief W H Moran said operatives were sent to Richmond and Charlottesville to question two branch employees. The loss became known Saturday with the amount still unsettled. Charles A Clevenger was held for questioning but no charges were filed.

All Water Rates For Cotton Shipments Announced
Memphis March 17 J W Atkin son general agent of the Mississippi Warrior barge line announced today that all water rates of cotton shipments from Mississippi river points to New York and Philadelphia became effective. The all water Memphis to New York rate is 75 cents or 30 cents per 100 pounds under the all rail rate. Cotton will be picked up along the Mississippi river and at New Orleans and end on steamship for the eastern ports. Two sailings a month from New Orleans to New York and Philadelphia have been arranged.

Fire Destroys Bethel Home of S F Hemmond
Samuel F Hemmond's Bethel residence burned Saturday night. The family woke at about midnight to a blaze at the bedroom door and escaped through a window. The dwelling and furnishings were lost. outbuildings and barn survived. Insurance partially covered the home. A long stored supply of home made goods and food was destroyed. No injuries reported.
