Rummaging in the Press and Banner office, the minute book of the Medical Association of Abbeville District, founded May 4 1835, is offered to the Abbeville County Medical Association under bond for fireproof filing. The article lists founders, notes eighty years since formation, and reproduces a 1837 medical ethics code covering physician duty to patient society and colleagues.

Mrs Gary in Seneca views girls school site
Mrs F B Gary of Abbeville will visit Seneca next Thursday to inspect a site offered by Mrs M W Coleman for a Girls Vacations School. Club women and citizens will lunch with her at the Oconee Inn and then visit the property. The committee is also considering another offer and citizens should decide soon as a decision is imminent. The project aims to aid poor girls by providing a vocation school, enhancing Seneca’s climate and location.

C J Lyon Named U S Marshal in Western District
A telegram from the Press and Banner reports the appointment of C J Lyon as United States Marshal for the Western District. President Wilson made the appointment yesterday on the recommendation of Samuel J Graham, assistant Attorney General. The note recalls Graham once taught in Abbeville and Lyon was his mischievous pupil, a tale ending with a light jab about a chair and trousers.

Prof R B Cheatham was unanimously re-elected superintendent of the Abbeville Graded Schools for twelve months at the district meeting held last Tuesday afternoon. Trustees praise his work, noting school improvements during his tenure. No other teachers were elected. later dates will assign those positions. Leave of absence granted for teachers attending the State Teachers Association in Florence on March 20.
