Washington March 14 A favorable report on the long controversy soldiers bonus bill ordered today by the House Ways and Means Committee by a vote of 19 to 5 Chairman Fordney plans to submit his formal report tomorrow or Thursday but time of calling up the measure would not be fixed until after the return of Speaker Gillett who is in Florida with President Harding Fordney said he did not expect Gillett to bring any message on the bonus from the Executive and that the conference with the Speaker would cover calling up the bill next Monday under suspension of the rules The committee vote followed two hours of questioning of Mellon Crissinger and Harding on the bank loan adjusted Certificate plan An amendment to impose a three year 1 percent tax to raise 500000000 to finance the bonus was rejected 19 to 6 Another amendment allowing rediscount of original loans on certificates by banks was adopted with Governor Harding objecting to rediscounting by Federal Reserve banks noting its unfavorable economic effect

Death of Mrs Milay Jane McMahan at Antreville
Mrs Milay Jane McMahan died at her Antreville home on Monday at age eighty three and was buried Tuesday at Rocky River. The Rev Clayton Hampton and Rev W A Duckworth conducted services. She leaves three sons G T McMahan W P McMahan A P McMahan of Belton and two daughters Mrs J C Campbell and Mrs W T Patterson of Antreville along with twenty two grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. An Eskimo witness described honesty findings and alleged plots involving the New York and New Orleans Cotton Exchanges against the American Cotton Exchange, with the hearing resuming tomorrow.

The Supreme Court held the Interstate Commerce Commission lacked authority to compel the abandonment of strictly state railroads.
