Soldier Aid Move Would Weaken Bonds
Washington reports leaders of both parties oppose soldier aid legislation this session despite demand from service groups for bonuses and loans. They warn issuing new bonds to finance programs could lower Liberty bond values from around 100 to 75 80 cents and raise interest costs to six percent for soldiers and bonds. General Highway Act Approved by Both Houses
Columbia March 6 Special report states the General Assembly has approved the General Highway Act with a two mill levy to fund a state connected county highway system. A seven member commission will govern with a secretary and a state highway engineer. Vehicle licenses rise by tonnage after January 1 next year with scaled fees for trucks and trailers and reduced rates for pneumatic tire use.
