Death of Miss Nancy McIlwaine at 78 in county home
Miss Nancy McIlwaine died Thursday afternoon February 25 at four o'clock at her sister in law Mrs Margaret Susan's home. She was in her 79th year and beloved by relatives and friends across the county. Funeral services were held Friday at Mrs Sxtan's home conducted by Rev H W Pratt aided by Rev S C Cantey, with interment at Long Cane cemetery. A devout Presbyterian, her life touched many in the community.

Fire damages Greenville Street home as residents asleep
Sunday morning a roof fire at James A. Hills residence on Greenville Street woke the sleeping family. A passing colored man alerted others while the fire crew quickly doused the flames and limited damage to a roof section.
