Railway Office Robbed in Chester
Chester February 26 The Southern railway ticket office was broken into Sunday night and 616 dollars stolen along with mileage books. A rear door was forced then a latch released to enter. Brice on duty at 11 o clock placed the safe key in the cabinet and the thief cut a hole to reach it. By late last night no clue had been found by the railroad.

Rate for Veterans For Confederate Reunion Fare Declined
Memphis Tennessee February 28. A round trip fare for the United Confederate Veterans reunion at Richmond Virginia June 20 to 23 has been set by the Southeastern Passenger Association. The one fare round trip replaces the old one cent a mile rate, which ends after 32 years. Reunion tickets now have a ten day limit.

Spartanburg February 28 283 people joined the churches Sunday the first Sunday since the Billy Sunday campaign ended. Each church reported accessions including both profession and letter admissions. When added to January joiners the total nears 700 across city churches.

Thompson's Fate in Hands of Jury Deliberations Continue
The Press and Banner reports the jury has been deliberating since 11 this morning the verdict not expected for hours. Thompson was captured last week in Greenville County after an alleged assault near Antreville and his defense claims no intent to harm the young woman. Tragedy at Greenwood Barn Fight Ends in Death
At a barbed wire barbecue two miles below the Newberry county line in Greenwood a deadly melee followed a chicken fight. One man, Mendèreson White Tian, was shot and killed by Abrams. A second man, C H Gins, was wounded, shot through the body and arm, as bloodhounds pursued Abrams into river swamps. The crowd dispersed after a general volley. Williamson, a farmer with a wife and two children, was also shot and died later, with multiple deaths reported.

Governor Cooper granted Jesse Valentine a parole from his life sentence on the chain gang.
