Death of Mr. John W. Pratt at Greenwood Hospital

Mr. John W. Pratt died at Greenwood Hospital Saturday evening after a short illness. He was a lifelong farmer, native of Due West, who moved to Greenwood 19 years ago. Funeral services were held Sunday at Edgewood Cemetery at 6 o'clock, conducted by Dr. B. H. DeMent with Dr. E. J. Smith assisting, and were attended by many relatives and friends. Pratt was uncle of Mrs. T. C. Beaudrot of the city.

Abbeville Volunteers Join Columbia Militia Cadre

Messrs Gottlob Neuffer W D Wilkinson and Paul Kenedy left Saturday for Columbia to enlist with the militia. They are the first Abbeville youths to join as United States soldiers. L B Simpson and C P Wilkinson also volunteered. The recruiting officer will visit this week to organize volunteers.

Cochran Family Returns From Charlotte

Mrs James 8 Cochran and Miss Mildred Cochran returned from Charlotte yesterday. Miss Mildred was under treatment at a Hospital after a successful operation and is improving rapidly. Her many little friends will be glad to learn of her convalescence. Miss Leola Hannon of Charlotte accompanied them home. She will be Mia Cochranay's guest for several weeks.
