State Hospital to Replace Medical Staff July 1

South Carolina’s State Hospital for the Insane announces a complete medical staff overhaul effective July 1. New appointments include D C Sandy as clinical director and Carl H West with J F Munnerlyn as junior physicians. three interns from the Medical College of South Carolina were named.

Riot Seizes Winnsboro Prisoner In South Carolina

A mob of about 100 men confronted Sheriff A D Hood and aides as they tried to transport Utes Smith for trial on rape charges. Hood and several deputies were wounded. Smith was killed. Two towns faced ongoing violence as militiamen rushed to Winnsboro and Columbia with ammunition and surgical teams.

Auto party harms well house in Lexington streets

An early morning auto trip through Lexington by an Edgefield bridal party blinded by electric lights struck a main street well shed. The Ford was partially wrecked and one party member was injured. Dr Williams became superintendent May 1. Williams then left for York to visit his father.

Notable Rural Cleric Dies After Short Illness

Rev. R. H. Dagnall of Williamston died last Saturday after pneumonia. He was 76 and a retired Methodist minister. Funeral services were held in Anderson Sunday.
