The South Carolina division of the Farmers' Education and Cooperative Union adjourned at 2 o clock after a two day gathering with about 19 delegates from twelve counties and a total membership around 6 00. C P Goodwyn Laurens was named president with T T Wakefield Anderson as vice president and B F Eure Anderson as secretary and treasurer. A state organizer M A Manatley Belton, Chaplain A B Binet Taylors, Conductor W B Holdey Laurens, Doorkeeper J D Williams Greenwood, and Sergeant at Arms G E Putman Greenville were elected. Executing committees were chosen and work to organize all counties was set. Resolutions endorsed warehouse systems to control prices and thanked Anderson county for hospitality and local papers for publicity. The meeting also thanked railroads, agreed to a Farmers Union Day at the State Fair in 1906, and appointed K F Ducworth as speaker. The text also contains ad copy and song excerpts inserted amid the proceedings.
Miss Lillie Edwards and Walter Ablow of Lebanon united in marriage at the Methodist parsonage with Rev. P. B. Wade officiating. Local notes cover farm union delegates from Lebanon and Sharon, ongoing farming concerns, court attendance, and community updates on residents moving, visiting relatives, and local sales and advertisements.
Representative Wyatt Aiken says he will not leave Washington before Congress adjourns to campaign in his district. Also promotions for Bucklen’s Arnica Salve, Dr King’s New Life Pills, and Helliater’s Rocky Mountain Tea are advertised with testimonials and prices.
