Abbeville Auxiliary of the American Bible Society met July 27 at the Presbyterian church. Rev J L Daniel presided. officers elected include Louis J Bristow as president and J L Daniel as 1st vice president. Treasurer Otto Bristow reported $158.50 raised. funds allocated to the parent society. A district meeting followed July 30.

Pratt Heads to Montreal for Presbyterian Conference
Rev. H. W. Pratt travels from North Carolina to attend a northern Presbyterian educational conference in Strickland after visiting France. His sister and relatives are in the city awaiting his return. He previously served at the Quartermaster's Depot, received a discharge, and plans to resume civilian work.

Local Baptist drive launches 75 million campaign
Abbeville Baptists begin a town wide effort to inform members ahead of a December kickoff for a 75 million campaign by Southern Baptists for missions and benevolence. Rev. Lous Bristow declined to lead the national segment to stay with his church. Meetings start at S. A. McCuen and T. V. Howie homes with further gatherings planned each evening next week.

Homecoming Visit From Capt Hemphill in Abbeville

Philadelphia July 26 Millions of dollars are being spent by American dyestuff makers to outpace Germany in vat dyes. A large corporation has invested 1 800 000 in experiments toward new colors with indigo like properties. Vat dyes offer insolubility and fastness, aiding fabrics in shirts and blouses. Imports may be allowed under new tariff hearings with possible five year licenses. Practical scale production lags lab work but progress is rapid amid manufacturing obstacles.

The Victory Button is a small lapel badge for wear on civilian clothes issued to all officers and enlisted men, field clerks, and Army Nurses Corps veterans who served at least nineteen days between April 7, 1917 and November 11, 1918. President Wilson Denies Wife Found Hospital Cruelty
