Julius Nickles Hurt In Bicycle Collision With Ford
Julius Nickles younger son of Mr and Mrs W F Nickles of North Main street was knocked from his bicycle by a Ford driven by Mr Coulson. He was dragged about 20 feet on the asphalt suffering skin losses facial lips and ear injuries but no stitches were needed and he is resting today.

Body of Eugene B. Gary Jr. Returns for Long Cane Burial
Chief Justice Eugene B. Gary learns from Graves Registration that his son Eugene B. Gary Jr. is en route from Brest to Hoboken and will be shipped to Abbeville for interment in Long Cane cemetery. The 27 year old soldier died October 14, 1918 after influenza and bronchial pneumonia aboard a transport. An American Legion post in Abbeville will organize a military escort to the grave.

Man Loses Leg in Railroad Yard Accident
John M. Harkey, 57, a Seaboard car inspector, lost his left foot when a switch engine struck box cars he was under to connect air hose. He was rushed to County Hospital for treatment. Harkey has 25 years with Seaboard and his son Horace, from Pittsburg, is en route to be with him. His daughter Mrs. J. B. Fowler visited him over the weekend.

A lifelong resident born in Pentneys Creek he leaves two wives and three sons, John, W E, and E A Williams. Man Dies in Mill Shafting Belt Accident
Charles M. McMahan age 24 was fatally torn by a shafting belt in the card room of Saluda Manufacturing. His left leg was torn from his body and he was hurled 20 feet. His wife, working nearby, witnessed nothing. Superintendent George M. Dean rushed to prevent her from seeing the grisly scene. The McMahans recently moved from Knoxville Tennessee to Greenville.
