Abbeville County marks unfurling of a 421 star service flag with 15 gold stars honoring local youths in the army and the fallen. Dignitaries include Mrs. J M Wilkinson and Gen M L Bon and Rev H W Pratt spoke as bands and soloists performed during ceremonies at the courthouse square and Opera House.

John T Daniel of Lowndesville dies at home on December 24 at age 44. He served ten years as a rural mail carrier, was a Mason Odd Fellow and W.O.W., married Ella Hodges who died four years ago leaving two daughters Grace and Ruth, and he leaves a father three brothers and two sisters. Funeral held at home with Rev J A Clotfelter and Rev H C Fennell, burial in family cemetery.

Lt Gottlob Neuffer to Return Home From Overseas
Lieutenant Gottlob A. Neuffer wounded in action in Flanders has been transferred from Camp Jackson to return home to Abbeville for a few days with relatives. He is the first local serviceman to come back from overseas, and is to be warmly welcomed by the community and the children.

America First musical to be staged in Abbeville
Mrs M T Coleman division has arranged a local production of the musical play America First or the Girl and the Soldier. Mr Wm A Baker directs with letters from other cities. The cast includes about one hundred local performers rehearsing in Abbeville. The show goes on January 13 at the opera house.
