Death of Mrs Liddell Shocks Lowndesville Community
In Lowndesville on Thursday the town learned of the sudden death of Mrs T O Liddell widow of Route 1 carrier. She was about 95, longtime Presbyterian, survived by a ten day old baby, husband and many relatives. Her funeral was held at the church conducted by Rev A Clotfelter then burial at a nearby cemetery. The town also notes cold weather sleet and social visits as locals travel for shopping and errands. Recent events include Rev J C Chandler returning for another year.

Greenwood Woman Killed by Husband at Pamela Mill
In Greenwood on December 21 Albert Tolbert a young white man at Pamela cotton mill choked his wife Miss Nola Hall to death while they were alone in a room. Neighbors heard fighting and Tolbert admitted the act later to Superintendent McCuen. The couple, married several years but living apart, had recently been living together and working at Pamela mill. The dead woman was about 22 from the Donalds area of Abbeville County. Tolbert, from McCormick, was jailed amid talk of lynching but tensions cooled.
