Reading Room and Gymnasium Opens for City Residents

The Thetist church has fitted up its transment for reading rooms and a gymnasium at a cost of £62 to benefit the city. A library will be established in the reading rooms along with magazines and recent books. Quiet games such as checkers and dominos will be available, and stationery provided for letters. Volleyball and basketball facilities are installed with more to come. Mondays and Tuesdays will host grammar school boys and girls respectively, with High School girls’ games on Fridays. The project, led by Dr. Swope, aims to offer a healthy, communal space for recreation and study evenings.
