Laurens Officer Shot to Death in Clinton Chase
Laurens officer Hosea Martin was fatally shot near Mountville after police pursued two Clinton men, Luther Timmons and Dee Willard, who fled with a whiskey load. The pair surrendered to the sheriff in Clinton about dawn and were taken to Laurens. an inquest has not yet been held.

Spartanburg reports Edwin Tuck aged nine died today from rabies contracted after being bitten by a neighbor’s dog two weeks earlier. The dog, which had shown no signs of madness, disappeared and has not been located since.
