The American Legion and Chamber of Commerce plan a brief reception for Marshal Ferdinand Foch as his special train stops in Abbeville Friday afternoon. A short program includes welcomes from Mayor J Moore Mars and J L D Fulp, with a floral gift to Mrs Foch and a French souvenir sketch. Police will cordon the Seaboard station area while ex service men form a guard of honor.

Ex-Service Men Plan Foch Welcome in Abbeville County
Ex service men in Abbeville County plan a 6 oclock Thursday meeting in the court room to organize a welcome for Marshal Foch. Soldiers will march in uniforms to the station, then proceed to Greenwood by train with a large reception setup and marching contingents including Governor Cooper and American Legion leaders.

Ridgeville Fire Destroys Multiple Buildings
Fire in Ridgeville last night about midnight burned a brick four‑store block on North Main owned by J. E. Thrower and W. J. Dukes with value listed at 16 000 and insured for 8 000. The brick structure housed People's Store Corporation with 10 000 stock and 5 000 insurance, St George Grocery Company with no insurance, and W M Vaughan with no insurance. A large two story frame building owned by Knight Bros. with small insurance was also destroyed. Cause remains unknown.

Wreck Hurts Walter Clamp En Route to Abbeville County
Walter Clamp, moving from Georgia to Abbeville County, suffered a brain concussion after a Ford driven by B Ferguson and carrying Robert Ellis overturned on the Due West road. A tire burst caused the crash pinning Clamp beneath the car. He was treated by Dr. J E Pressly and later moved to Memorial hospital for possible surgery. Ferguson and Ellis were uninjured.
