Orlando Woman Declared Insane in Murder Verdict

Benton Eludes Florence Posse After Fatal Farm Shooting
Florence December 3 Jim Benton who yesterday shot and killed Fay Poston and wounded Alger Poston when the two brothers trespassed on his farm after warnings not to do so has eluded a posse tonight. Benton is believed among the swamp and may surrender once danger from the posse passes. The body of Fay Poston was burned today at Johnsonville. Alger Poston is seriously wounded but improving. Sheriff Burch reports Benton warned hunters off his land and even halted a crossing yesterday. The posse with sheriff's deputies remains active as the search continues.

Peculiar Accident: Boy Burned by Shotgun In Squirrel Hunt
Harmon Mellwaine, son of George Mellwaine, was near Due West when a shotgun discharged and barely missed his body. The flames from the muzzle set his sleeve alight as he lifted the hammer from a log. The wadding lodged in his clothing. the fire was quickly extinguished with no serious injury.
