Death of Mr Re McCaw of York

Mr R G McCaw of York died on Tuesday November 25th at Charleston after a week of treatment. He had been in ill health for months and was known for fine character and kindly manners. Funeral services were held at a Presbyterian church in York. Survived by sisters Mrs L W Perrin of Abbeville and Mrs J K Alston of York, and brother Mr Harry McCaw of Columbia.

Newberry Indicted for Election Fraud in Michigan

Grand Rapids Mich Nov 29 Truman H Newberry United States Senator from Michigan was indicted by a United States grand jury for corruption and fraud connected with the election that brought him to the Senate defeating Henry Ford. 1182 others were indicted with him and twelve top names were withheld from publication awaiting warrants. Among those named were W A Hopkins assistant secretary of the United States Senate Donald S Nawbatty brother of the Senator and Paul H King Detroit manager of the Newberry campaign committee.

Local Abbeville Baptists Raise 43118 For Campaign Victory

Abbeville Baptists completed a seven week drive with a Sunday victory celebration. Ten teams reported contributions totaling 43118, the largest single Abbeville Baptist gift being 6000 from J. Z. Shas and 5000 from W. D. Barksdale. Eleven girls marched with banners, seven carried "victory" letters, while two young women displayed the final sum. Hymns, prayers, and an inspired sermon closed the day as the largest gift in the 75 Million Campaign for the church.
