In Anderson Aug 17 Governor Blance and Judge Jones faced a raucous crowd that prevented any speech. Despite attempts by Acting Chairman D Paarman and Josh Ashley to quiet the crowd, pandemonium broke out and the meeting adjourned without speakers. About 3,000 attended as protest and loud chants dominated proceedings. Governor Blance refused to speak unless Jones was heard, while the crowd shouted and the stand trembled under the strain.

Railroads Offer Side Trip Fares for National Corn Exposition
Columbia August 20 Railroads operating in South Carolina have authorized side trip excursion fares from Columbia to many South Carolina points to coincide with the National Corn Exposition in Columbia. The offer, by Southern Railway Atlantic Coast Line Seaboard Air Line and Columbia Newberry Laurens lines, enables visitors to make cheap side trips within the state. Tickets go on sale January 28 February 6 and 8 1913 with return by February 11.
