Charlottesville announces the marriage of Miss Willie Sue Nicholas to Dr Eugene Logan Power in Yokohama Japan on September 7. Miss Nicholas sails August 24 from Vancouver aboard the Empress of Japan. Second Regiment Arrives and Camps at El Paso Border
The Second regiment of South Carolina infantry arrived last night and pitched camp above the First. Lieut. Col. J. B. Allison greeted troops as they detrained from a smooth voyage from South Carolina. The Charleston Light Dragoons and engineer and field hospital companies arrived in El Paso in good condition and joined other units near Fort Bliss. Col. Wright assumes brigade command as the Florida regiment is expected soon.

The quarter mile dam of Lake Toxaway, western North Carolina, failed about 7 o clock after heavy rains. The lake flooded 550 acres with 10 feet of water depth. Geologist Dr. Fen McCallie estimates 543,571 gallons of water contained. Officials kept Seaboard Bridge on Savannah River ready if river rose to dangerous levels. River peaked Monday night at about four feet.
