Douglas Named City Clerk and Treasurer by Council
At a Saturday meeting the City Council elected George C. Douglas city clerk and treasurer. T. R. Gallman declined to serve after holding the post since Perrin’s death. Douglas will assume August 15, resigning from Murray Drug Co where he has been druggist since 1917. He previously served in the army for 80 years in various world postings. The council also approved purchasing a high geared Ford to catch speeders, replacing a prior motorcycle plan. The traffic cop wagon will run 65 mph with an 8 to 1 gearing. A speeders fine was set at 10 dollars per offense.

Three operations were performed at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital today. Mrs J D Fulp, wife of the superintendent of Abbeville ity schools, had an appendicitis operation and rests easily.
