Coroners Inquest Into Death of William Hooney
In a coroner inquest held at Quernestown a verdict of accidental death was returned for William Hooney who died after a lifting press at the Works. The jury heard of internal hemorrhaging and injuries from a weight on a turntable track, with testimony from police and medical examiner Gordon Walker. Hooney, a Tasmanian-born married man, was identified as a worker at the melting works and was observed by colleagues prior to the accident.
