Italian police arrest 71 members of a secret organization named Mualavita in Foggia. The group allegedly organized crimes from highway robbery to kidnapping with training schools for knife use and pickpocketing. Members wore red or green scarves to denote rank and used perjury as protection.
The Canadian Limber and Sawmill Company of Trout Lake BC awarded a contract for 100 000 000 feet of logs at a cost of about half a million dollars. Backed by English capital in My EL Kinnon, the project is the largest inland contract to date. Manager J B Henderson says the mill will employ 100 men and process 60 000 feet daily, with timber holdings around four to six hundred million feet along the lakefront.
A rustic letter from Larry Finn mentions the family cat stealing a pen and ponders life, while reporting the death of Billy Herrin at the Old Men's Home in Kamloops. The note laments missed chances for kind words, urging bouquets while the deceased lived.
Jerry Ryan of Spokane faced magistrates Buckwords and Doss on theft charges after stealing a shirt from DesBrisay Jobbing Co and rabbers from Newitt and Co. He attempted to sell the items, was arrested, and pleaded guilty receiving two concurrent two month sentences.
