Broken Hill Tr. and D. Co appoints liquidator and plans ore operations

Mr Stephen Bywater becomes permanent liquidator for Broken Hill Mining and Dew Co Ltd and will arrive soon to restart the mill on Arizona ore. Arizona lessees expect ore to run mill for about a month. Bremner Bros will send 100 tons of rich ore from Pilot mine. Bywater may employ miners at Wilcox to tap high grade ore in sight to help pay debts. Contested claims to be heard January 6.

Ymir Mine Strike Yields High Grade Ore for Milling

At the Ymir mine a rich vich ore from the 500 foot level is milled and shipped crude. It is believed to average 25 per ton with September returns likely higher than in the past two to three years. Ore from numbers five and new east drift extractions are noted, and the west drift on the 1000 level will extend to reach the lower level ore.

The Cost of the Fire and Road Repairs

The repair of Velhos stone road at Sakno costs about 1000 dollars to the Government. Dundes and Yiniv roads were repaired, adding to fire fighting expenses, bringing district costs to not less than 2000. The work funds come from road appropriations. critics urge better organization for fire prevention and suppression.
