Commercial Bank to Erect New Premises in Town Centre
Directors of the Commercial Bank announced plans to build a new premises adjoining the Camowttan Office in High-street. Architects Hyndman and Plates of Queenat Melbourne prepared plans, with J.J. Webster of Eisternwick the tenderer. The red brick facade with cement facings and a shielded pediment stands proudly. The building includes a spacious banking chamber, strong rooms, and a private dwelling with dining and kitchen areas. Mr Geo Kiel of Melbourne supervised the construction, guiding the project to completion.
