Bantam Enlistment Allowed in Australian Army
The Defence Minister approved new AIF enlistment standards after reviews by General Birdwood and Army Medical authorities. Minimum height is 5 ft 2 in with 32 in chest, with allowances for infantry and special service roles for men under the limit with district commandant approval. This move is seen as a boost to recruitment and reinforcement needs.
