Poems for Chamberlain from Wade of Northmead

Vincent D Wade, aged 63 from Hammers Road Northmead, sent two poems to Prime Minister Chamberlain praising Munich Peace Agreement. Wade, brother to Hubert Wade of Wingham and A Wade of Wauchope, stated he only began writing at 60 and has now authored about 100 poems. He included a letter noting global support for Chamberlain and the effort to preserve peace, and his verses celebrate courage and diplomatic resolve.

Band Dance at Little Plain Bulga Sees Record Turnout

The Little Plain Bulga dance Saturday night week drew a large crowd despite cold weather. It kicked off a fortnightly series by Betts' Bus transporting attendees from Wingham with a full load. Mr C Anderson's four piece orchestra provided splendid music, with extras and a band selection during supper. The next event will be at Wherrol Flat on Saturday night with a Euchre Party.

Silver Wedding Party for Len and Carle at Taroc

May 25th marked the silver wedding of Mr and Mrs Len Carle of Elands. Seventeen relatives and friends gathered at Mr and Mrs Chas Cook’s Victoria Street Taroc for tea, a 9 inch silver cake adorned with 235 candies, and gifts of cut glass vases and a silver knife and jam spoon. Mr G Morrow toasted the couple, Mrs Carle distributed cake portions, and a mishap with a boot on the bumper occurred upon departure. The Carles, of Wiands, were warmly felicitated.

Obituary of Mrs Lavina Petrie at Coogee aged Te years

Mrs Lavina Petrie widow of the late Edward Petrie Coopernook died at Coogee on Wednesday morning aged Te years after a stroke last year and subsequent paralysis. She spent most of her life at Coopernook, survived by children William Petrie Bob Hock Thomas James John Miss M J Heighiley and Misses Margaret Ethel Maud with several others in Coogee and Sydney. one son Stanley predeceased. She was daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John McBroom born at Mambo Island. Two brothers William McBroom and James Mee also survive.

Deceased brothers Messrs John and Thomas MeBroom of Mambo Island noted. Miss Margaret MeBroom sister died at Coogee. body moved by motor hearse to Taree. Funeral from daughter Mrs Burns of Taree home to Church of England section at Cooper Oak cemetery. Service at home and graveside conducted by Rev J S Buallough.

Death of Mr Alfred Hoare a long time tradesman

The death occurred on Thursday week of Mr Alfred Hoare one of the town’s oldest tradesmen. He operated in the old town in the late 1800s and ran a workshop on Wied fai Commoner Bt. Later he was in business between Mill Creek Bridge and Commerce Strew. He lived with a daughter at Narrabeen at the time of death after years away in Sydney. He leaves two daughters Mrs J W Mudford Pampoolah and Mrs A Drabner.

Deaths mark Lansdowne and Leeton burials of two local men

Obituary notices report the death of Alexander Henry Smith at Lansdowne aged 78, noting his Moorland birth in 1860 and land selection at Cross'a Creek as a pioneer. He leaves multiple children and a son who predeceased him. Interment occurred at Lansdowne cemetery led by Rev. Mullough. Also, Hugh Archibald McDonald, 64, a noted dairyman with the Glenrock Jersey stud, died after pneumonia following rice harvest duties. Surviving family, including a widow and daughters, attended his Leeton burial in the Methodist section.
