A formal induction of Rev W Torrance to the charge of the church was held in the School Hall with an appreciative audience. Interim Moderator Mackeville presided. Rev H S Parsons preached the sermon, and Rev W Harte Washam delivered the charge. Elders and church members, including Rev James Walton Macks Villon, attended as well as Rev W Dorn Beltingeny al Mears and other clergy. Welcoming addresses acknowledged the Rev and Mrs Torrance and family, with social remarks from local figures. The gathering featured singing by local soloists and choirs, and a fitting reception followed the service.
Mrs H Campbell marked her 88th with a Wingham gathering hosted by Mr and Mrs J F Baines on Werbelia Street. The evening featured violin, songs, dances, and tributes from family and friends including Nina Chapman and Mayoress W Vaughan. Mrs Crawford spoke warmly of her late mother and the group looked forward to a similar event on June 2 1908.
