Mr. Arthur asks the Colonial Secretary about creating a Newcastle district Boys' Clubs under police supervision. the secretary says he has not reviewed Newcastle clubs yet but will study establishing them in outer suburbs and country districts, and will review Newcastle’s position given the spread in industrial centres.

Bulga developmental road inquiry to Oxley Highway

Mr J G Arthur asks if Minister for Works will study a 19 mile Bulga district road to Oxley Highway and cost of about £75,000. He notes potential farming and timber benefits. Minister Spooner cannot answer now, will check which department handles it and inform the member soon.

Land Settlement on Bulga Plateau Questioned

Mr J G Arthur asks if 25 blocks near Bulga Plateau, about 900 acres each, have been surveyed for settlement and if roads exist. The blocks were dedicated as a state forest for afforestation and are largely unsuitable for settlement. An interdepartmental review is nearing completion to decide whether to release land for settlement or keep it for forestry. The minister will consider the final report and inspect if revocation is recommended.

Aramac cow breaks butter milestone in 365 days

At Manning Branch meeting of the Jersey Herd Society a motion congratulated A E Fowler of Aramac via Wingham for breeding Aramac Princess, the first cow to yield 1000 lbs of butter in a year. The notes praise her breed type and living weight while detailing feed strategy and lineage.

Aramac Princess, Jersey Cow Tops Butter Output Record

Aramac Princess owned by A E Fowler of Aramac Karaak Flat Wingham has become the latest Jersey to exceed 1000 pounds of commercial butter in a year. In a recent official test the six year old cow produced 1211.5 pounds of milk with a 68 per cent yield and 627.81 pounds of butter-fat, equivalent to 1009.52 pounds of commercial butter. Production covered eleven 30 day periods and one 35 day period with 12.115 pounds of milk in the latest test.

The Mooral Creek Empire Day Picnic on Wednesday May 24 drew a large, varied crowd despite weather fears. Children’s races set the tone with gifts and generous apples and lollies, followed by book prizes awarded by Mr H Ford and teacher Mr J O'Brien. Adults enjoyed a fall programme organized by the Ladies and Sports committees, with a dance at night hosted at the Ford home and lively music from local musicians.

Woodchop first heat H Sharkey and W Richards, 50 seconds. second heat K Meaker and D Barlin, 40 seconds. Pinal won by H Sharkey with K Mesker second in 47 seconds. Other events included Wicket throwing F Glater stepping 100 yards FP Moy and W Richards tied, Hop and Jump EK Meaker at 3 ft 10 in, Bending race W Moy, Play race M Green, and High Jump K Meaker at 4 ft 7 in.

Birthday Commemoration Plans for Henry Lawson

Arrangements are under way to commemorate the birthday of Henry Lawson. A meeting of three delegates from Grenfell Chamber of Commerce Forents and Citizens' Association and the Lawson Literary Society discussed the Commemoration Service at the Lawson Park monument in Grenfell on Lawson's June birthday. Sheepskins Firm Tallow Unchanged at Sydney Auction

Demand for sheepskins remained strong for export with stable tallow values at the Sydney market last week. Prime serus sales ranged £15 0s 6d to £16 12s 6d per ton, with good £14 10s to £16 0s, and inferior £11 to £14. Trade opened steady then closed with little change. calf skining dearer, yearlings firm, incoming categories varying from 3d to 38d per %, and hare skins sold per dozen variously from 4s to 6s per dozen different grades.
