Optometrist D L McDonald of Jack and McDonald Pty Ltd will visit Wingham on Wednesday March 6 at ATMACY Wingham and Taree on Thursday March 7 at Walker's Pharmacy. Appointments urged.
The M R Co op Dairy Society paid 78 suppliers £25008 65 7d for December for butter and commercial butter for cheese. Output fell 15 percent from November and 19 percent from December last year. Continued dry weather is reducing output.
In the Wingham Small Debts Court, parties failed to appear and the cases were struck out. Wingham Sawmilling Co. v Harold E. Brewer and Herron Smith v AH. Gray. In one action a sum of £6 5d paid into Court was ordered returned to the concerned party.
Readable scores show Burrell Creek won by innings while Marlee defeated Wingham in a latent innings lead. Notable performances include W. Carter's 11 sixes and 53 by C. Hell, plus J. Reeves and D. Reeves contributing in the Marlee innings. Wingham's first innings total near 90 fell short against Marlee's dominant play.
Rankin a 45 year old carrier from Moun George faced Wingham Police Court on remand for stealing 40 bags of cement from Charity Creek Railway Station. Plea of guilty entered. court imposed a £30 good behavior bond for two years and discharged him. Earlier motor cases included licenses and plate offences with fines and minor defaults. A meeting at J Joseph’s shop revived boxing contests in Wauchope with a main bout Tullipan versus Neil Bain planned for February.
A Vauxhall driven by Mr W. Ot Wid b collided with a pedestrian, Mrs. H. Sawyer, near a curve on Grove Road about 7 p.m. January 11. Mrs Sawyer died from injuries. ambulance took her to Tare, where she was pronounced extinct. The report noted road geometry and recommended alignment improvements when funds allow. The report was adopted with regret.
The first carnival of the association at Port Macquarie on the rural club green drew strong praise. Play spanned a ten day period from December 2 with fours pairs and singles events. Stiles of Taree led the fours, Campbell of Cessnock won the singles, and O Neill with Bennett of Port Macquarie excelled, while Holt of Chatswood and Lindman of Port Macquarie placed high in the rounds. The event, organized by secretary Mr Mowle, drew many visiting bowlers who lauded the meeting and Mrs Mowle’s hospitality during morning and afternoon tea across ten days.
Players including Parvin Fridge Debreceny Walker and Murray Took part in a pennant game amid hot weather on Taree green. Afternoon tea featured Dr. Brokes receiving a portrait from the NSW Bowling Association and praise from club members for President O Stokes. The Newcastle Metropolitan Bowling Association postponed pennant matches twice this season, citing weather and heat as the causes.
