Wingham and District Union Annual Meeting Report

The Wingham PP Union held its annual meeting at the Council Chambers on February 14 1936. Attendees included President F. Keech, Joan Bird, Andre Abbott, KC W. Cross secretary, J. Campbell, and J. Ballard. Discussion covered officers and delegates elected for the coming year, road and bridge issues on Cedar Party Creek, and district meetings with outcomes favoring continued improvement projects and legislative action on pig and butter trade support.

Wingham to Taree road upgrade debated at union meeting

The Manning Shire Union discussed upgrading the Burrell Creek to Wingham road using modern road making methods. A permanent Wingham to Taree link was proposed, with a bridge over the Manning planned if Burrell Creek works proceed, and a letter to Shire Council was agreed. The meeting also covered court house plans, delegate payments, crow damage, Sabbath observance, and related matters.

Farewell Social For Mr and Mrs George House

On Friday February 7 1936 the Wyoming Branch of the QVOOF with the Parents and Citizens Association held a Smoke Social in Mount George to bid adieu to MF and Mrs George House and Miss Margaret House. A large turnout from distant areas attended despite weather, with dancing and music by Mrs Cox and MF L McAvough, W Pesree. A superb repast was served at 10 30 pm, provided by Mount George ladies, as local officials and the Mount George community paid tribute to the George family and King George V.

Retirement tribute at Mount George for Mr Mouse

A gathering at Mount George marked the retirement of Mr Mouse from the Department of Education after a long service as a teacher. Attendees praised his dedication, with local officials and lodge members offering best wishes, gifts, and reflections on his career and family.
