Plowing Match At Narrow Lake Declared Best Yet

Judge from the Department of Agriculture praised Narrow Lake's plowing contest as the best he had attended this year in the province. The day drew many visitors, with meals by the Ladies Aid supporting Red Cross funds. Prizes were awarded for best kept team, best handled teams, and best turn-out, as a Narrow Lake team won a local game against Thackeray and an evening concert raised further funds for charity.

Cold Spring Lake Union Picnic Plans Stable

Arrangements for the annual Union Sunday School Picnic at Cold Spring Lake on July 1 are well under way. The committee is sparing no effort to make it the best yet with a Wilkie Band expected to attend. An invitation is extended to everyone. trains will leave at 9 30 p.m.

Messrs Souterville and Olsen of Regina secured the contract to build a narrow rural telephone line from Wilkie on Tuesday. Poles will be erected and wire laid. completion expected in a few days.

Ladies Base Ball Team to Play Here July Sth

Manager Horigan of the Wilkie Base Ball Club signed to meet the All-American Girls Base Ball team at Wilkie on Monday July 5 at dpm. The touring club travels with three lady pitchers and has impressed larger towns in Canada. Watch next week's paper for the lineup.

Mayor Duimage of Wilkie proclaims Monday June 28 a Civic holiday following a town appeal from Scott. Stores and businesses urged to close at 1 PM for Wilkie Sports Day observance.

Fifty two students wrote this week at Wilkie High School and Grade VI examinations. All but four have been at the Wilkie School for at least three months. Class lists show numerous names across First to Fourth Class and Grade VII, with many students noted from out of town.

Wilkie Baseball Club Elects Officers At Fire Hall Meeting

The Wilkie Baseball Club reorganization elected Hon. Pres. F. M. Jatkaon, Pres. C. B. McCallum, Vice-Pres. Hermann, and Secretary- tren. The group discussed baseball matters and decided to enter a team for the Scott tournament on Monday, June 28.

The Junior Baseball team plans a Tuesday trip to Magistals for the Biggar Sports Day tournament. Prizes are $26 for first and $15 for second. The event offers a chance for the “Sunbeam” prize.

Thackeray News Highlights Local Social Mix and Elevator Closure

The Co operative elevator will close and reopen around August 15. Local residents hosted and visited families including Mrs Padden and Mrs Suttle during Sunday gatherings. A Thackeray group attended a picnic and concert in Lanao, with Miss Suttle traveling to work, and W Hunterle visiting.

Sports Celebration Day Brings Crowds to Local Games

A large turnout assembled Tuesday June 22 for a local sports celebration featuring a baseball tournament with four teams Cut Knife North Battleford Scott and the home nine. The home team beat Cut Knife in the opener, Scott edged North Battleford in a tense match, and North Battleford won third by beating Cut Knife. The final was a 12 11 victory for Wilkie over Scott, with Wilkie first money Scott second and North Battleford third. A football tournament saw Clean win after extra period with no score, Wilkie second string and visitors failing to materialise a second match. Players praised but urged more practice and regular uniforms to sustain success.
