Ye Olde Countrye Fair Opens at Field Hall

Visitors to Field Hall will find a fully redecorated interior and several booths, side shows, games, and prize opportunities as St Paul’s Church Wilkie hosts a charity fair from Saturday afternoon through Tuesday night. Mayor Dulmage will open the event at 4 pm Saturday with free admission and proceeds aiding church funds.

Appointment of Bowen-Smith as Hanley secretary treasurer

Receives appointment 8 C Bowen-Smith paid a bust ress trip to Hanley Saskatchewan this week returning Tuesday night. He has been appointed Secretary Treasurer for the town of Hanley and for the Rosedale Municipality with headquarters in Hanley. He plans to commence duties early in March and will delay moving his family until he secures a house and makes final arrangements.

East Half of Lot Sold to Parrett for Model Dairy Farm

Mr Ernest Layedck disposed of the east half of 16 19 19 to Mr Edgar EF Parrett of LaPlayette Ind last week The quarter section formerly belonging to Mr Those Hodgins forms part of the farm Parrett intends to move his family to the Wilkie area soon and will begin farming with improved methods He plans to procure standard bred stock and establish a model dairy branch

Band Benefit Skate Rescheduled For Friday Feb 27

The Wilkie Town Band will not play at the rink Thursday next due to a Field Hall engagement for the Fair. They will perform Friday February 27 and receipts from the event will be donated to the organization in recognition of services rendered.

Hunting Season Toll Reflects Safety amid New Game Act

Twelve people died and ten were seriously injured in hunting accidents during 1913. None of the incidents occurred while pursuing big game. The 1912 Game Act require big game hunters to wear a white outer suit, a factor cited for the drop in fatalities.

Married Ladies At Home Best Yet in Wilkie Assembly Hall

The Wilkie Public School Assembly Hall hosted the Married Ladies At Home event on Valentine day. Over two hundred guests enjoyed dances organized by the committee led by Mesdames Dulmage Forbes McKechnie Quigg Jackson Warburton Moore and Macdonald with Mrs H H Ellis as secretary. The hall was decorated with hearts arrows and floral emblems. Delicate refresh ments were served and dancing continued into the night with a central card area and a short whist drive before remarks.

Consolidated School Proposal and Church Organ Talk

In Re ford there is talk of consolidating schools from Lachner's Belleview Pilaina Mc Connell and Aroma for economy and year round operation. A Saskatchewan Dairy Car demonstration and lectures are set for Scott on March 2 at 2 30 p m not Coblenz and Reford. A young man near town travels to Wilkie on Sundays.

Rumor Of Child Frozen To Death Near Wilkie

George Vernes of Owenstown told town on Monday a rumor that a twelve year old girl frozen to death while returning home from school about a mile north of Wilkie. He claimed a cutter upset and a horse ran away. a boy suffered frozen legs, and a rescue party found the girl dead. Vernes cannot vouch for truth.
