Short Courses For Farmers Cancelled At Wilkie

Extreme cold last week prevented the Wilkie School short courses for farmers from being held last Thursday to Saturday. Attendance was practically nonexistent as one course canceled and others could not proceed. Temperatures ranged from 40 to 60 degrees below zero making travel and attendance impossible.

Workers For Red Cross Call For Garment Aid

A Red Cross bulletin urges volunteers to supply unlimited quantities of garments for hospitals and servicemen. The local committee reports garments cut and ready for sewing, with Mrs Laycock able to supply work as demand grows, and asks residents to spare time weekly to help those risking their liberty.

Minutes from the Berst Municipality of Buffalo No. 409 dated February 1917 note approval of the Jan 2 meeting, grants of 300 dollars to the Wilkie Agricultural Society and 100 dollars for gopher prize funds, a recommendation to join the Association of Rural Municipalities, monthly meetings on the first Monday, delegates to the Rural Municipalities Convention in Saskatoon March 7 with 25 dollars each, 1917 assessor C.
