A Germany wide broadcast reports Admiral Donets ordering silence of weapons after “great victories” yet admitting heavy defeats. A Reuters correspondent cites shattered morale and hints at the destruction surrounding Stalingrad and a beleaguered Berlin as the war rages on.
Relatives mourn the death of Misa Frese Butler sister of Megara William Gordon Tes se and George Butler of Weet Wra long. She was Matron of Parramatta Base Hospital and collapsed at Albury railway station while returning to Sydney from Melbourne. Funeral planned in Sydney this Thursday.

At Tokteworthy yesterday a bench and soldiers fired spent ammunition at close range, wounding three boys. A fourth, unhurt, crawled 20 yards under fire to alert troops. The injured, all taken to Liverpool Hospital, include Glenfield youths Noob Miimat Neeq 12 Allan Miller 14 and Tennis Alinman 12.

Merna Sloane won the entranced voices category while June Stidwill took the varlist prize and Mrs Park won the instrumental section. Admission receipts reached 240 shillings 12 pence with votes totaling 18 pounds 16 shillings for the West Wyalong district Patriotic Fund. A report will appear in Monday's issue of the Advocate.
B Grade consistency saw H R C Kalms beat E A Wilder 121 to 89. G Wheeler defeated J W Parker 121 to 89. In rink play Ralitie Grehman Welsh Tyler skip defeated Blackwell Clements Matterson Pinger skip 27 12. Sanderson Mulcahy Matha skip defeated Prowne Foard Alderman skip 21 10.
A Wednesday euchre party at Mr. H V Tarken wol shel raised £6 108 for Calleon Red Cross with donations from Mo KB Ene ah and Mr Nielsen Mrs Wid Stent won the Indies first prize with Nina H Davies second prize went to Mr C Davies and Mr S from second prize coordinated by Mr T Nielsen. After supper and dancing the event cleared the shed and music was supplied by F and A Taylor. An event winner was Mrs L Rettke and a Monte Carlo waltz won by Mr and Mrs W Tillier. The second tournament will be held at Mr Davies woolshed on Wednesday 11th May at p.m.
A juvenile dance arena organized by Miles Joan Prothero and Misa Vertia White drew many children at the OWA Fall, Weel Wyalong, last night. Mr Rt Oliver was the musician and J. Arereton ran the ticket box. Refreshments were provided. A competition for a ten order winner named Mike Mary Fee, with proceeds aiding the Convent Fete.
