Smith appeared at West Wyalong police station after a murder report. Magistrate M Robaon granted bail of 600 pounds with one surety. remand to West Wyalong on Monday 4 January. Defense argued for bail citing urgent property work and legal precedent.
Following a windstorm a tree was reported across Marsden Road near Mallee Plains prompting Bland Shire Council officers to inspect. They found wind damage with branches scattered but no obstruction across the road. An earlier note thanks donors and supporters to the Herbert Fund and Advocates coop.
Francis Buckman appeared before Mr M Hobson at Weet Wyalong Police Court on Tuesday charged with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and without a license. Sidney Welsh faced charges of permitting Buckman to drive without a license and aiding and abetting Buckman. A remand to the Weat Wyslong Court of Party Sessions on 1 January was set. Bail for Buckman was granted £20 with one surety or two £16. Welsh bail set at £280 and £20, or two £10.
Edwin George Siemson of West Wyalong was arrested in December by McCarthy and Con stable Thompees on driving charges. He faced allegations of driving a motor vehicle in Grenfell Street while intoxicated and in an offensive manner. Brewsen was released on £30 bail to appear at the West Wyalong Petty Sessions in January.
A truck carrying Marsden Ross and Charles Richards of Conmmay Street Wyalong and Ronald Herridge of Nedd Street Wyalong overturned about 18 miles from Wyelong after striking loose gravel. The vehicle, owned and driven by Vernon Thomas Manning of Cemetery Road Wyelong, sustained injuries to the passengers necessitating hospital admission.

From Washington the American Secretary of State John Foster Dulles announced that the United States accepts the Russian proposal to postpone the Big Four discussions until January 25. Britain had already signaled willingness to delay the talks and to align with the new timetable.

Monsignor Sharkey died in Lewisham Hospital Sydney aged 81. Born in Ireland in 1872 he arrived in Australia in 1897 and spent his entire ministry in the Goulburn diocese including Weat Wra Adelong Junee Young Burrows and Gooning. Funeral in Tumut on Tuesday with Bishop Young presiding and a large clergy presence.

The new year will be ushered in at a Main Street carnival in the parking block opposite Meagher's store West Wyalong. The programme features performers, house chocolate wheels, competitions, confection fights and games. Carnival proceeds split between town and country queens in the boys' hostel queen competition.
