Diggers Queen Reclaims Lead in Rural Queen Event

The Rural Queen fundraising drive reports Misa B Newell and Valerie Devenish among donors, with stock sales totaling sheep and cattle for the Wellington Festival Rural Houses. New Locomotive on Western Line

Railwaymen discuss the joint new 32 class engine on the Western line. On its trial between Sydney and Dubbo last week it reached speeds up to 75 mph on suitable tracks. When the line supports higher speeds, travel times to and from Sydney will be greatly reduced and pilot engines on steep gradients will no longer be needed.

Train and mail services to be restored

Increases in express rail service announced by the Railways Commissioner will take effect from next Monday. Additional mail trains will run from Sydney to Wellington on Mondays and Wednesdays and from Wellington to Sydney on Tuesdays and Thursdays, allowing Sydney mail to Wellington six days a week. Full timetable details will be published in next Monday's Times.

Greenobby Lincoln hosts successful sports day

Geeenobby Lincoln hosted a Saturday sports day that drew a large crowd. The event raised almost £100 with horse events, competitions, and children's novelty races entertaining attendees. The Diggers Queen Committee will conduct the Club House Hotel on Saturday, with Mr. Pop Wright donating proceeds to the committee to fund as many sports as possible.

Festival Week to Brighten Wellington with Flags and Bunting

Wellington readies for Festival Week with extensive decorations and street arrangements. A sub committee, led by Mr Preston, plans additional hunting and flags, while local firms are urged to join the effort. The Greta Brigade Training Band will perform and transport, accommodation, and catering will be arranged. A pigeon shoot and gymkhana are planned with paid admission, and a variety night will invite public participation. Debts of Queen Committees must be settled before the crowning.
