Tragic Death of Cobbora Works Overseer
Cobbora Shire Council works overseer Dennis Edward Hannon of Georie died in Dubbo Base Hospital after a utility track overturned three miles from Georie Inte on Thursday afternoon. Hannon aged 68 had served the Shire for over two years and also acted as health and noxious weeds inspector. The accident occurred about 5:30 pm when Shire Engineer D K Allen, returning from a roads inspection, drove the vehicle. both men were thrown to the roadway and rushed to hospital. Hannon died about 7:30 pm, Allen was shaken but uninjured. He leaves a wife with a son and two daughters. The funeral was held Friday afternoon at Geurie Catholic Church and burial followed at Geurie cemetery.
