The Australian Wheat Board saw its powers extended by proclamation in Canberra It authorises the board to engage in operations related to wheat trade and market activities as stated in the extended mandate notes The move comes as officials reaffirm the board’s role in overseeing exports and policy execution through formal government action
Windows of the Forbes mail and an electric train from Parramatta were smashed last night. Police say stones from catapults caused the damage. No passengers were injured. Later two boys aged 15 and 10 were charged with malicious damage to the train.
Hon. H. V. C. Thorby, Deputy Leader of the Australian Country Party, states the party has not altered its stance on urging the Prime Minister for an initial 2 shillings 6 pence per bushel advance for bagged wheat delivered at country sidings. The Country Party expresses strong dissatisfaction with the government’s position.
The minister for Agriculture refuses immediate delivery of sacks replying to representations. About half of the farmers, Wellington growers, and station master concerns push for sacks arriving next week. The issue is referred again to the Minister for Commerce in Parliament.
