The Pa and H Society approved over £950 prizemoney for next year’s Wellington Show. Secretary Mr W Price noted last year’s offer of £901 with only about £150 claimed, and an increased sum aims to raise exhibits’ quality. A dissenting view urged £50 increases to be allocated by the secretary and sub committees. The meeting invited Governor Northcott to open the 1950 show and endorsed changing show dates to mid week to suit the Race Club, a move supported by delegates from the Wellington Show Trust.

The death occurred suddenly in a Lewisham private hospital yesterday of Mrs. Elizabeth Gertrude Mary Dover of Warne Street Wellington. The late Mrs. Dover lived with her husband on their property at Cundumbul until Mr. Dover's death weekly, Mrs. Dover then moved to Wellington to be in Wane St. Mrs. Dover's death is shock to relatives and friends. The remains will be bought in Wellington to-night and in funeral will take place to-morrow. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick's Church to-morrow morning.
