Sydney Archbishop Kelly has written to Premier Stevens urging further extension of relief work at award rates if possible. He warns a large indigent army, at least 60,000, remains on the dole or in relief or receiving insufficient nourishment to meet actual needs.
The Catholic Club Executive Committee in Clute has arranged a lecture for next Tuesday by Mr B I Grogan of Dubbo on Glimpses of Australian Poetry. Grogan, editor of the Dubbo prefix, is a noted lecturer and gold medalist in inter state oratory with a history of newspaper work. The event includes poetry recitals and a short musical program, with seating for about 150 in the old church hall and open to non members as well.
In Perth, Professor Walter Murdoch says Australia disgraced itself by barring Czech writer Kisch from landing, noting his international repute as an anti militarist. A Melbourne report says during a Horsham district storm in Victoria two men Johann Groat 50 and Voight an agent were struck by lightning beneath a tree and killed. A third man was badly burned and in critical condition.

Charles Vaughan, a laborer, was committed for trial on a murder charge after an inquest into Cooper's death. Evidence indicated Cooper was injured during a struggle in a hotel bar and Vaughan was present in custody.
