Militiamen Return Home After Bathurst Camp

Wellington militia men returning from a month in Bathurst arrived by special train with Orange Wellington and Dubbo contingents. A large crowd welcomed them at the station before a drill hall reception led by the Wellington District Band. Soldiers praised camp life and improved marching, with plans for longer training in the new year and possible compulsory training joins.

Country Women’s Association annual meeting report highlights

The Comobella Hall meeting heard Mrs. R. W. Conn report 1939 activities for the Country Women’s Association Branch with 22 members and average attendance of 12. Fundraising included a handkerchief tea, a tennis afternoon, and a blue and gold ball raising £20 7s 8d. Disbursements supported Macquarie Group, Emergency Hospital funds, and Baby Health Centres, with the branch recessing until March 1940.
